Instant Khaman – Very Popular Gujrati Snack

Hello Everyone!!
Instant Khaman is a very nutritious & healthy very popular Gujrati Snack! It will be prepared in very less time . This is my favorite recipe, whenever I want to eat something this is my on-hand recipe.  The taste is delicious and looks spongy & the best part of this recipe is it requires very few ingredients.

Let me show you the recipe

  • 2 Cup – Besan (Chickpea flour)
  • 2 Cup – Water
  • 1 – TSP Sugar
  • 1 TSP – Salt
  • 1 TSP – Turmeric Powder
  • 1 TSP – Chili-ginger paste
  • ½ tsp – eno
  • 1 – lemon


  • 2 TSP – Oil
  • 1 TSP – Mustard Seeds
  • 2 – Green chili
  • 8-10 – Curry Leaves
  • 1.5 TSP – Sesame seeds

First of all, take a steamer and pour the water and let it boil. if you don’t have steamer than take a large vessel full it with ¼ water and let the water boil on medium flame.

Take a missing bowl mix  Besan, Sugar, Salt, Turmeric Powder, Chili-ginger paste, lemon juice add water and mix it very well make sure there is no lumps should be remaining. Better should be little thick and in flowing consistency.

Take a pan in which khaman will be steamed, make sure the pan should be double in size. Now add eno in better and mix very well it will look fluffy. Now pour the batter in a greased pan, place it in a steamer and steam it about 15-20 minute.

Check the Khaman after 20 minutes, insert a corner of knife it comes out clean than khaman is ready.

Now flip over the khaman in a plate and let it cool for 10  minutes then cut it in the square using the knife.







In a pan heat the oil, mustard seeds, Sesame seeds, green chilies, curry leaves and let it splutter, keep the flame low.  Pour this mixture on khaman using the spoon so the whole pieces of khaman get tempered very well.  

Now serve the khaman with tomato ketchup or coriander chutney!
